Vancouver's Society of Italians (1998)

book cover This story follows the establishment of the Italian mutual aid societies which provide immigrants with a social outlet and opportunities to confront the challenges of life in their adopted country. The book contains fascinating photographs and intimate family histories, is rich in stories of the men and women who came to British Columbia seeking personal fortune and a better way of life. Vancouver's Society of Italians, Vol III 2006

book cover 3

Volume III was introduced in 2006 following the remodelling of the Italian Centre's main dinning salon. The important message which emanates from this chronicle relates to the Italian Cultural Centre’s future prospects. Considering that there has been virtually no immigration from Italy in the past 20 years, a critical lack of membership-renewal threatens the very existence of the Centre. Culos and those personalities profiled offer a number of valuable suggestions. The main idea seems to be that there is a need to invite all those interested in things Italian to become involved with the Centre.
